STAAR Prep
Is your child ready for the upcoming ELA STAAR Assessment?
At the OBEC Ed Center, we understand the importance of being well-prepared for standardized tests. That's why we offer specialized small group and one-on-one instruction to ensure students are fully equipped for success on the exam. However, to qualify for this service, students must first demonstrate mastery of the reading comprehension assessment.
For those who haven't yet mastered this assessment, we provide a comprehensive foundational literacy program meticulously crafted by OBEC. Our program is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel not only on the STAAR Assessment but also in their academic journey beyond.

Reading Intervention
At The Oglesby-Beckles Education Center, we specialize in building foundational reading and language skills for young learners. Our program focuses on pre-reading, phonological awareness, decoding, and fluency, while also strengthening vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills. Through focused instruction on sentence building, punctuation, and paragraph development, students will gain confidence in their literacy abilities. Additionally, our comprehensive approach to reading comprehension—focusing on summarizing, inferencing, and understanding genre-specific features—ensures that each child is prepared to tackle more complex texts.
After three sessions at our center, parents can expect to see noticeable progress in their child's ability to decode words, improve reading fluency, and apply new vocabulary in context.
